Daytime at the Assembly Hall

[ July 12, 2008; 11:00 am to 5:30 pm. ] The Royal Hotel’s refurbished Assembly Hall, built in the late 19th century but only recently rescued from its latterday use as a storage room, will host an attractive programme of entertainment during the day on Saturday July 12.

Salmacis

[ July 12, 2008; 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm. ] Salmacis, a group of amateur dancers from Sutton Coldfield, will do a belly-dancing workshop, 1pm-1.45pm, Saturday July 12 in a marquee on The Parade.

The performers are united in their passion for belly dance, the Western name for an Arabic style of dance developed in the Middle East, where it is known as Raks Sharqi.
