Fresh from a successful tour of Salzburg in Austria, the Plantsbrook Swing Band will round off a day of entertainment in the Royal Hotel’s Assembly Hall on Saturday July 12 with an hour of lively arrangements of songbook classics.

The band, featuring pupils playing trumpets, clarinet, tenor and alto saxes, trombones, drums, bass and rhythm guitar, will perform at the newly restored venue - which is accessed via King Edward’s Square - from 4.30pm.

Well-known Boldmere pianist Mike Fowler will guest with the group as they tackle standards such as The Girl From Ipanema, Fly Me To The Moon, When I Fall In Love, It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing) and even the Beach Boys’ Barbara Ann.

Admission is free.
