Eat My Words

Ask restaurant in Manor Road is promising a tasty evening of storytelling as part of Sutton Festival Of Arts.

The venue will host Eat My Words, with contributions by seasoned tale-tellers Chris Lowe and (unrelated) Tessa Lowe.

The duo will present an evening of professional storytelling on the subject of food, at the restaurant from 7.30pm on Sunday July 13 at the climax to the Festival.

Inspired by the Brothers Grimm tale Stone Soup, they are inviting locals to bring along ingredients to make the evening a success.

This could be either vegetables for a special soup that Ask will prepare for festival participants, or simply some stories to share with other diners.

As well as preparing the soup, restaurant general manager Arjol Kola (pictured, centre, with Chris and Tessa) will himself throw in a few tales.

Four Oaks-based Chris is renowned for his flamboyant, energetic style and once won the Biggest Liar In Shropshire title for some of his tall tales.

South Africa-born Tessa, who has lived in Sutton for many years, describes herself as the “storyteller’s apprentice”. She organised a storytelling festival in 1999 that featured Spike Milligan and was once given a West Midlands Arts grant to hone her skills.

To book a table or for more information, call Ask on 0121 354 8834.

For more about Chris, visit www.chrislowestories.co.uk or call 07876 487267.

Chris is also performing at Sutton Library on the 12th.
