Daytime at the Assembly Hall
| July 12, 2008 | ||
| 11:00 am | to | 5:30 pm |

The Royal Hotel’s refurbished Assembly Hall, built in the late 19th century but only recently rescued from its latterday use as a storage room, will host an attractive programme of entertainment during the day on Saturday July 12.
First on will be the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (11am-11.30am), followed by some contemporary styles from Studio School Of Dance (11.45am-12.30pm).
Pupils from Fairfax School will reprise performances from their successful Eisteddfod - a fusion of four dances on the theme of Inspiration (12.45pm-1pm). Those taking part are Anna Sandbach, Emily Davis, Nina Kapur, Katie Mills, Lucy Webster, Karrise Willetts, Nicholas Boddington, Stephanie Clarke, Megan Chiles, Rebecca Guest, Louise Hooper, Michaela James, Charlie King, Laura Fumagali, Masego Motaung, Nicole Nankervis, Safiya Goodman-Williams, Amy Stringer, Helen Sheppard, Philli Rawlings, Theo Larcombe, Laura Mercer, Jodi Dixon, Emma Jones, Megan Williams, Grace Lloyd, Joe Simpson and Jason Smith.
Students from Streetly School will give a dance show between 1.15pm and 1.40pm. The school is a specialist sports college, and dance forms part of that specialism.
The Streetly dancers who will be performing on Saturday range from Year 7 pupils right through to sixth-formers. A variety of dance styles will be seen including musical theatre, street dance and contemporary. Some of the pupils performing are studying dance at Streetly School as part of a GCSE or A Level course and will show some of the exam work they learnt during this course.
The dancers all practise with teacher Corrina Lea during lunchtimes and after school and are hugely dedicated. They have already performed at three different events this year. The school is hoping to get more pupils to form a bigger troupe next year to take to perform at more venues.
Fairfax pupil Daniel Gormley and his classmates Crystal Tully, Cara Pett, Frankie Roberts, Laura Biddle, Jessica Lovell, Anna Sandbach and Josh Hamilton will perform a musical medley from 2.30pm to 2.45pm, and then there will be time for punters to stretch their legs before Plantsbrook Swing Band take over at 4.30pm.
Admission to all of the above events is free.
