Scintillating blues guitarist David Moore - unusual for the genre in being a Birmingham Conservatoire graduate - leads his band in a Festival gig at The Gate Inn on Friday July 11 at 9pm.
David, who also teaches guitar and who sings lead vocals, derives inspiration from blues, soul, jazz and funk, with the three Kings - BB, Albert and Freddie - coming high on his list of influences.
Other favourites include Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Steve Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Powers, Richie Havens, Dr John, Peter Green, Stevie Wonder, Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, Phil Lynott, Led Zeppelin, Roger Hill, Stan Wolarz, The Band, and just about anything on the Stax label.
The band features Mike Parris (bass and vocals), Rob Norman (organ and piano) and Phil Brittle on drums.
